AFTONSOL – the crofter's cottage that became a riding school

One of Åland's most complete equestrian centre is located in Tellholm, Hammarland, 17 km's from Mariehamn. We offer our riders a fine experience in a wonderful environment with a sea view.

Ever since our beginnings in 1992, our motto has been quality with a personal touch.

At Aftonsol you'll find:
- well ridden horses and ponies
- experienced riding teachers
- indoor arena and a large outdoor sand manege
- social facilities with accommodation
- cosy cottage for overnight stays
- stable for about 25 horses

Our activities:
- riding school, August-May
- riding camp in the summer
- weekend courses, Saturday-Sunday or Friday-Saturday
- dressage and jumping practise
- equestrian education, both theoretical and practical concerning the horse industry.

Riding teachers
Stall Aftonsol has a competent riding teacher team who are all educated at Strömsholm in Sweden.

Mikaela Mattsson, hippologist, riding teacher with a diploma and a college teacher in the Natural Resources Programme, specializing in horses

Horses and Ponies

There are some 20 horses of half-bred type, well educated in dressage and jumping. At the moment Aftonsol has seven ponies of which most are Connemaras.

New Indoor Riding Arena
In 2008 we will finish another indoor riding arena. The new arena will be of international standard and the riding area will be 22 x 60 m.
When we begin using the new indoor arena, Stall Aftonsol will be Åland's most complete equestrian centre with two indoor arenas, a large outdoor sand manage and fine social facilities for both our regular riding school riders and course participators.
