A visit to a restaurant in Åland is always an adventure – apart from the excellent food, the atmosphere and surroundings contribute a huge amount to the charm.
For instance, up in Getabergen you have Soltuna restaurang & café taking pride of place with a magnificent view over the mighty Norrhavet sound. The Havspaviljongen, with its view over Kökarsfjärden in the Åland archipelago, is another restaurant in Åland that provides a view that is out of the ordinary.
When you visit Kökar, in addition to the Havspaviljongen, it is recommended that you try the Brudhäll Hotell & restaurang, with its unusual and boathouse-inspired architecture.
Among golfers and star chefs
Åland's golf club in the middle of Åland has more to offer than just golf. Here there is a restaurant that attracts many patrons besides golfers. This takes you to Kastelholm Castle, and Åland's answer to Skansen: Jan Karlsgården Open-Air Museum. There you mustn't miss the opportunity to have an excellent meal at Jan Karlsgårdens Wärdshus where you will find star chef Michael Björklund since the summer of 2011.
Extensive selection in Mariehamn
The ÅSS Segelpaviljong restaurant, with its fine old traditions, in Mariehamn's western harbour, offers good Åland cuisine as well as a gaze at the museum ship Pommern and the boats in the guest harbour. The new Sushi restaurant Nordic Blues is located in the neighbourhood east of the sports park.
Texas Longhorn and Park Restaurang & Bar are restaurants you should visit if what you are after is a good steak. Indigo restaurang & bar is a popular restaurant that focuses on quality food, drinks and service. They also have a fine bar you can spend time in and a Mediterranean-inspired outdoor section open in the summertime. On the other side of Lilla Torget you will find Dinos Bar&Grill with its menus and entertainment that rock.
If what you want is a good meal followed by dancing, then we recommend Hotell Arkipelag's own restaurant.
