The Aland Sea Days is the summer’s major coastal cultural event with nearly 20.000 visitors every year. The Sea Days is an occasion for traditional sailing ships, wooden boats, tourists and Ålanders to meet and a big music event with dancing to live music at night.
The Sea Days offers contains sailing races, folk music gatherings, films, children’s activities and daily sailing tours with the schooner Albanus and much more. Displays and sales of local handicraft.
In connection with the Sea Days on July 14th there is a new event from Summer 2012 – the Pommern Day onboard the museum-ship in the Western Harbour of Mariehamn with line-crossing ceremonies and sailsetting to the tunes of old shanty songs. On July 15-16 there will be a get-together for traditional sailing vessels at Degerby village, Föglö, with programme and live music. The following day, 17th of July, there is a sailing race for the ships from Degerby to the Maritime Quarter in the Eastern Harbour of Mariehamn. The Sea Days ends with the Children’s Sea Day on 21 July.
