Warm summer days should be spent at the beach
There are Åland beaches and places to take a swim for all kinds of tastes. Explore shallow and child-safe sandy beaches, granite-red rocks and beaches with diving towers.
Start your day with sun, sand and sea by placing your beach towel on the warm sand and take out your beach toys. Do not forget to bring a picnic basket – fill it with juice, sandwiches and yummy buns. Then just sit down and have a good time. If you get too warm you can cool off with a swim in the sea.
There are several beaches to choose between. Degersands Havsbad in Eckerö is a good example with a long and shallow sandy beach. Right by it is Degersund’s Camping and the restaurant Q, prefect if you forgot your picnic basket.
Åland even offers beaches centrally in town. At Lilla Holmen in Mariehamn is a child friendly sandy beach with a pirate ship to climb in. A bit farther away along the shore is the swimming centre Mariebad with an adventure bath, exercise pool and an outdoor beach. Here you may also treat yourself to a steamy hot time in the sauna.
