Riding camps, riding school and Icelandic horses in Åland

You can hire a horse for a few hours or go on a riding camp. Or how about riding an Icelandic horse to a 16th century castle?

Stall Aftonsol has a riding school, weekend courses and riding camps. The stables' weekend courses and riding camps include full board with accommodation in the farm's cottage. All meals are served in the riding school's own dining hall.

Riding camps at Stall Aftonsol
Stall Aftonsol holds several full board riding camps in the early summer as well. You must be at least 9 years old to be able to take part in a riding camp. Besides lots of riding, leisure time in a pleasant social setting with swimming, excursions and barbecue and video evenings are all part and parcel of a fun camp. Stall Aftonsol is situated about 25 km from Eckerö and 20 km from Mariehamn in Tellholm, Hammarland.

Midgård Islandsstall

Cross-country horseriding on Icelandic horses is another exciting option. Beginners can have a go, the horses are calm and move so gracefully that even inexperienced riders find them comfortable. Led rides can, of course, be suited to your existing skills; experienced riders can gallop along winding sandy paths while beginners can make their way along at a slower pace. The country around Midgård Islandsstall in Sund Tranvik is excellent for rides, alternating between hilly areas and quiet woodland paths. Rides can be arranged to historical sights such as the medieval Kastelholm castle or Bomarsund fortress. There is also a floodlit riding track.
