Summer in Åland

Sommar på ÅlandIn the summer cafes, restaurants and museums open that are closed the rest of the year. Åland is so popular in July that many holiday villages and hotels are fully booked. But compared with other travel destinations, there is actually plenty of room in Åland. In the middle of the high season you can easily find an island that you can have completely to yourself.

Book your accommodation in good time if you plan to travel in July. But there is always room somewhere. We recommend that you choose June or August. Åland is at least as beautiful then, but noticeably quieter. June is appealing with its profusion of flowers and Midsummer celebrations. August tends to have the best temperatures for bathing, as well as many excellent events.

What is most popular in Åland in the summer

What do you think is most popular in the summer? Wildlife safari, music festivals, motorcycling or sailing? The answer is a totally ordinary cottage holiday. Many rent a summer cottage for a longer period, or a cottage for a weekend.

And what about the most popular thing to do? That obviously depends who you ask - the statistics are hard to interpret. Bathing and beach life are important for families with children. Sailing and boating life are, of course, most popular in the summer.
