Culinary experiences are the highlight of any trip. This is of course also true when it comes to Åland.
Åland has a varied selection of good foods and drinks for everybody. Enjoy a good dinner at a restaurant, a summer lunch outdoors in peace and quiet, coffee in a cosy café or just relax with a cold beer or a glass of wine in the bar.
The Åland restaurants and inns are located all over Åland, from centrally in Mariehamn to the shores of the archipelago. Here you can partake of fine cooking and fresh produce and raw materials from Åland, especially good fish. In the summer the restaurants and cafés also have outdoor serving areas.
When the day turns to evening and night, the entertainment, that often is live, waits in the bars and nightclubs in Mariehamn.
Good food memories
The taste experiences in the Åland archipelago include, for example, all local produce, fish dishes and the rich black bread. The traditional Åland pancake with its classic condiments - stewed prunes and whipcream - is also a given.
Åland delicacies also include creamy and well aged cheeses from the ÅCA dairy, tangy sea buckthorn products and of course "hemvete", Åland's own daily bread.
