A town worth discovering

Good accommodation alternatives and a good selection of restaurants, cafés, shops, museums, and activities - all this and more is available in Mariehamn. No matter if you choose to call this shipping town with its 10 000 inhabitants, a big small town or a small big town, Mariehamn really offers its visitors just about everything.

All hotels in Mariehamn are located near the town centre, which means that most experiences, sights and shopping are within comfortable walking distance.

A stone's throw from the town centre you'll also find Lilla Holmen – a child-friendly beach and Mariebad with a spa-department and exiting adventure pool.

Take a stroll
Characteristic for Mariehamn is the lush alley of Linden trees; "Esplanaden", across the entire town from the western to the eastern harbour. Take a stroll, discover Mariehamn and admire the old buildings and captain's villas. At Åland's Tourist Information you can buy the pamphlet "Sjöfartspromenaden".

Shipping plays a vital role in Mariehamn's history and you can learn more about it at Åland's Maritime Museum, The Museum Ship Pommern or in The Maritime Quarter's maritime environment. Don't miss a visit to Åland's Museum and the Åland Art Museum during your stay.

Good food is part of your stay
A good cup of coffee or a good lunch can be enjoyed at one of the cafés or lunch restaurants in Mariehamn. A well prepared meal at one of the town's fine restaurants rounds off the day.

Among all the alternatives, you'll find the tastefull Indigo restaurant & bar at Lilla Torget (the small market square) in the town centre.

Finally you'll find entertainment until the wee hours of the morning in the town pubs and night clubs.
