The homelike Jan Karlsgårdens Wärdshus is situated in a historical environment near the castle of Kastelholm. Nearby is also the prison museum Vita Björn and Jan Karlsgårdens open air museum which shows an Åland farm from the 1800's.
CAFÉ
The café serves everything from fresh sandwiches, salads, pies and soups to home style cooking and traditional Åland meals such as the popular Åland pancake. As parents ourselves we know the importance of good food for children and have a wide variety of meals for our smaller guests. If you want coffee we can tempt with different kinds of coffee and tea and home baked goods.
RESTAURANT
Jan Karlsgårdens Wärdshus also includes a restaurant where you can enjoy a hefty and well prepared guesthouse lunch or dinner, with lots of traditional culinary experiences. We have everything from whitefish roe with condiments, veal with jelly, cucumber salad and cream sauce on French toast or a tasty lingonberry cake with old style vanilla ice cream.
OPENING HOU
In the high season, May 1st to August 31st, Jan Karlsgårdens Wärdshus is open daily in between 11 am and 6 pm. Other times by prior agreement (we may also stay open later). We are open on Father's Day, "Little Christmas" and serve Christmas Dinner from December 1st - 22nd.
MANY ACTIVITIES - ALSO IN LOW SEASON
In low season the inn and the café are closed but instead we offer different types of group arrangements such as dinners with 1-3 course menus in the restaurant, crayfish parties, company parties and wedding feasts.
