If you want to travel around Åland and discover the islands at your own pace, we recommend a stay in one of the camping grounds in Åland. The winding roads and the closeness to the sea make Åland perfect for roundtrips with car, motorcycle or bicycle.

A tip is to talk to the camping hosts at each place you stay. They are more than willing to suggest different activities and sights along the way.

Close to nature
Camping grounds can be found all over Åland. You'll find them in the only town, in the countryside and in the archipelago. In common with all is that they are by the shore and have a beach and sauna. Camping is a simple and price-worthy accommodation that is easy to book. Choose to stay for a longer time or just one night.

Service
Apart from regular tenting, the camping grounds also offer spots for caravans and motor homes. There are also showers, toilets and washing machines. Additionally there is usually a cafeteria or a kiosk in most of the camping grounds.

Some camping grounds also offer accommodation in simple overnight cottages if you're tired of tenting and long for a real bed.

Rockoff Festival 2010

Märket – 60° 18,2’ N 19° 08,2’ E

Märket is situated in the Åland Sea, at the border of Finland and Sweden. At this small island the border in between the two countries was drawn in 1809 and in 1982 the line was measured out again, the three lighthouse buildings on the island are on the Finnish side.
