Activities

The area has a fairly shallow beach where you can build sand castles or just relax in the sun. Those who prefer to be more active can enjoy swimming, canoe paddling, rowing, a large trampoline, playing football on a 2 goal pitch, baseball, badminton and courts for ‘kubb’ (a Viking lawn game) and boule. There is also an adjoining playground with swings, a seesaw and mini golf. Even fishing from our fine new jetty for eager to bite perch is included. In the autumn, the surrounding woodlands are plentiful with various forest fruits and mushrooms, especially blueberries and delicious chanterelles. We would also invite you to the pleasure of stunning sunsets while bathing in our large wood fired beach sauna.

During the summer season, a rowing boat is included in the price and you can rent an outboard engine for the boat. Interesting nearby boat excursions are:
- Diving tower at Notplan public beach, further into Ödkarby bay
- The café ‘Uffe På Berget’ on the opposite side of the bay, the café has splendid views over the area and towards Färjsunds bridge
- Kastelholm castle, the medieval ‘Vita björn’ (White Bear) prison and the Jan Karlsgården outdoor museum with its historic buildings.

Lovely excursions by car to Getabergen´s, red granite cliffs and its viewing tower with breathtaking panoramas over the archipelago and open sea. There are 2 different foot paths, one to a cave where the inhabitants in the past hid from their enemies and a 2 km long magic walk for children with stories of how goblins lived in the forest but equally fun and interesting for adults. Next to the church is a 5 km historic walk for nature and history lovers.

Mariehamn is definitely worth visiting and we have lots of brochures in our cottages.
