Jan Karlsgårdens Wärdshus

Our restaurant is located right next to the Jan Karlsgården Open-Air Museum, the Vita Björn Prison Museum and Kastelholm Castle. You can catch a glimpse of Åland Golf Club's courses on the other side of the bay, and Kastelholm guest harbour is within walking distance. Our guests consist of Ålanders and tourists who are hungry, thirsty or simply dying for a coffee and a snack. There is something for everyone in our relaxed and informal environment!

Cafe and restaurant

We serve coffee, Åland pancakes, bread, cakes and pastries from our own bakery, and also light snacks. Our chefs like simple home cooking and that is our speciality. We use local raw products and prepare the food from scratch. It is simple, plain and tasty. To accompany it we are pleased to serve Åland drinks. The cafe and restaurant are open every day during the summer.

Our menus: Coffee menu, Lunch and school menu, Dinner menu.

For sale: the Wärdshuset's own products

We will be opening in the summer with a newly decorated lower floor and a bakery where we are going to bake plain bread, buns and cakes, crispbread, biscuits, etc. You can buy some of our bread from the restaurant’s shop. You will also find our own apple chutney, jams and marmalades on the shelves, not to mention local arts and crafts.

Tjudö Vingård (Tjudö vineyard) is moving in

Our new food and wine tasting room provides an opportunity for you to acquaint yourself with Tjudö Vingård's products. We have taken over Tjudö Vingård and have moved the whole operation - from now on we will be holding the drinks tastings in our restaurant. You are welcome to come and taste the drinks together with Åland snacks while our experienced guides explain the production process and show pictures of how it is all done.

Parties and catering

The restaurant can be booked for weddings and other parties. We have many years' experience as restaurateurs and organisers of parties and catering for both small and larger groups. We look after the service, the food and everything else you need, either in the restaurant or elsewhere, out in the archipelago, on a meadow or in your barn - the only requirement is electric power.

Opening hours 2011

Tjudö Vingård drop-in drinks tasting: 16 June - 6 August Monday-Saturday 11 a.m.
