Kumlinge

You'll ride to Kumlinge by means of the archipelago ferry from Vårdö. Onboard the ferry you can safely imagine how the men carrying the post had to endure all weathers. When you arrive to Kumlinge you may note that the red granite that is present in the rest of Åland here is changed into a black mineral.

The greatest sight in Kumlinge is the church of St. Anna, known for its incredibly beautiful wall murals and ceiling paintings. A short ferry ride from Kumlinge, you'll find the island Enklinge and the museum farm Hermas. At Länsmans Värdshus at Fälberget there is a memorial over the war in 1808.
