Experience the genuine scent of a tarred wooden boat!
The
Maritime Quarter is just a short walk from Mariehamn's town centre,
just north of Österhamn. The Quarter is a living marine centre with a
boat-building yard, a smithy and other traditional handicrafts.
In our museum we exhibit articles that are closely connected to
genuine ship-building. The galleass Albanus, the schooner Linden and
the sailing wellboat Jehu have all been built at the Maritime Quarter,
where they are based. At the Maritime Quarter there is always
interesting ship work going on.
There are also places that sell food & drink in the area.
The marina for small ships and traditional utility boats has a 330
meters long wharf and most service amenities.
